Beadlzs Begins

By Lynn Zidones August 17, 2008

The Class is Taken

I signed up for a bead making class through the local art center in February 2008.  Taking the class meant spending six to eight hours in the studio of a resident glass artist and working one-on-one with her to learn the process of creating lampworked beads in front of a torch.

The "Studio" is set up

The glass class left me dying for more.  I got home and started searching websites for beginner kits for lampworking.  I found one with many of the items suggested by my teacher for getting started.  The order was placed and the wait seemed forever.  However, three days later my kit arrived.  I set up a corner of the basement and got busy.

In the summer of 2009 I moved my workshop, now refered to as "the factory", to a room on the first floor that we were not using.  We called that room "the cold room" because there is no insulation in the walls in that room.  Now I heat it with the torch!  It has become a perfect place to make and sell beads.

The Business Begins

By mid-summer 2008I had many beads made.  It was time to decide what to do with them so that I could support my hobby and keep making more.  Again, I went to the computer.  After many late night searches, I found some items I wanted to put my beads on.  My finished pieces are now packed and the case goes with me everywhere. Thanks to my many friends who have purchased pieces, given me great support and new ideas, and lead me to new sales opportunities!!  You can visit my online shop at www.beadlzs.com which has limited items for sale.  Or visit www.beadlzs.mysite.com to see the variety of beads and items I have made.  I always welcome special requests-they are the most fun to make!  Email me with questions, requests, suggestions, ideas, etc. beadlzs@juno.com
